Is that a copper planchet because it does not look like ZINC!!!! planchet?
Zinc has a funny way of changing colors when it is exposed to the enviroment. I don't know the exact make-up of the Planchlets but it's not pure Zinc.

The composition of a 1991 cent : The core is 99.2% Zinc, 0.8% copper with a plating of pure copper. Weight is 2.5 grams. (Copper Plated Zinc)
