Cool MD with a nice die chip!! Nice find!
Cool looking... I am not sure but the MD could be covering up something??? Check out VVs 005 http://varietyvista.com/01a%20LC%20D...957DDDO005.htm If you discover something of importance some more pics would be nice :LOL_Hair:

That one is very well known.
It is MD but it's a repeating MD.
It's when the setup made lots of strikes with MD that were very similar. It's not any known variety covered up but it's a repeated MD that is collectable and they sell for some premium.
You'll find lots of posts about MD coins from the same die/setup.

I think yours might be a later one from the same die, yours has an enlarged chip from that one but the same die???
This is cool looking MD and a big chip too Mike! Ed, the MM in your photobucket link looks rotated and Mike's looks straight so maybe there was more than one die affected. Interesting, one I was not familiar with!
I remember Ed mentioning this before... I forgot all about it... I wonder if some of these originated from a working hub??? Edcylopedia may know!!!
I think my pic only looks rotated because I used a loup so it's not flat on and distorts it.
This might have nothing to do with working hub or anything other than the die/press setup, something was not right. instead of making normal strikes something was repeatedly wobbling and it churned out lots if coins with massive MD and it was doing it long enough that the chips grow.
No way it could be from the hub because it's MD.

Ed haven't seen a coin with MD have such a great strong raised date on all numbers area is generally flat...……..Ken
