1988 Dbl ear?? Need help w/this one please

    Additional Information
    Date: 1988
    Variety: DDO
    Mint: Philadelphia

Hi everyone. I'm really not sure how to label this one; it looks for all intents and purposes to be a dbl ear, but I know how bubbles can be misleading as well. Its just really strange how th portion underneath the ear is exactly like the ear itself. So I'll need help on this one. I tried to get as close as I could on the one pic w/a 20X loupe. Sorry it came out a little blurred. If anyone wants to se it in hand, just let me know. Thanks for your help and God bless.

The anomaly appears too flat and is not in my opinion a DDO.

It certainly looks like a double ear. Maybe someone with more knowledge than I can tell you if it is.
    Good eyeballing Chris!

My first inclination is to answer with isolated MD but it doesn't look right for that either. I will say that the date appears to show a slight Class VI Doubling.

Thanks Aisha! I'm hoping it's something new, but if it's not, oh well. I was VERY surprised to run into this, so I'll look forward to what the pros have to say.
Rock, I didnt even notice your observation regarding the date, but it looks like you're correct. I was just kind of in shock about the anamoly.

I keep looking at the photos and It really does look like a case of extreme isolated machine doubling.

There is something going on there and I'm not sure what it is. It could be MDD but from the image it doesn't look like it.

Bottom line -- that needs to be examined by an attributer. If you would like for me to examine just PM me. Thanks for your consideration and thanks for posting.

    Regards,
