Someone is going to have to examine that one. Sure looks promising, but there's a voice in my head which doubts it and expects it to be some other anomaly. Good luck and nice find!

I see the odds are in favor of a doubled ear so I will await the pros on this one. Waiting with anticipation.

    Definitely warrants further investigation.

Yes, I totally agree with it needing further investigation. So it's going out to Billy tomorrow and we'll see what happens. I'm not getting too hopeful, but it sure would be nice to have a discovery to my credit . If it turns out to be MD, then I'll just keep it as a "cool factor" coin I guess. Thanks for the replies, everyone!

Please let us know the results when you get them. I do hope I am wrong in my assessment. Good luck.

    Special Announcement

A special CONGRATULATIONS goes to Chris!!!

I have completed examination of Chris' 1988 Lincoln cent. Without a doubt -- it is a MAJOR DDO!!!! Extremely dramatic doubling of the ear to include portions of the surrounding hair details are readily visible (naked eye visible). In comparison, it is ALMOST as strong as the 1984 1c Major DDO Die #1.

I will be posting a special announcement as soon as I get the photos done on the Die Variety News (DVN) "News & Announcements" web page shortly. When the photos are up and online I'll let you know.

Chris 1988 Lincoln cent Major DDO begs the question -- why has this NOT been seen before now!!!!

Again, congrats Chris on one heck of a find!!!!

    Regards,
    Billy (dvn)
