Doubled Ear madness
I put this collage compiling many of the known doubled dies in the Lincoln cent series that have some form of doubling on the ear. This is by no means all of them. Most are not known for ear doubling, and some can only be identified on uncirculated examples.
The illustration is about as small as I can make it with the images still making sense. Top two rows show either separate lobes or extra thick lobes. Bottom two rows show doubling in some part of the internal structure of the ear. Most doubled ears have been found on either class IV or V and more recently class VIII. 2006 DDO-003 was by far the hardest to get an image of ear doubling.
1984 DDO-001, 1988 DDO-003, 1941 DDO-005, 1997 DDO-001
2006 DDO-003, 2009 WDDO-009 FY (1DO-009), 2006 DDO-004, 1999 CDDO-001
1936 DDO-001, 1939 DDO-001, 1995-D DDO-003, 1971-S DDO-002
1955 DDO-002, 1942-S DDO-001,1942 DDO-008, & 1955-D DDO-001

This should be a sticky Jason.
Richard S. Cooper Some have asked about my images I use, and I'm glad to say I've completed a DVD of these. Ask if you are interested. Newer members like these.

Wow, this is great Jason, thanks. A very helpful side-by-side comparison. Really love the '88.
One thing I was wondering about recently regarding double ears is the ears noted in Wexler/Flynn's Authoritative Reference on Lincoln Cents. He lists a few double ears from the 2000's, but I've never heard/seen anyone mention them. The only one I've heard about is the 2006-1DO-018. Here a few he lists:
1999 WDDO-001
2002 WDDO-001
2006 WDDO-045
Did these get debunked or something? Or has there only been one or two found?

Ditto on the poster. Thanks for the help.

I reorganized the collage as per Coop's suggestion of having it a 4 x 4 chart instead of 2 x 8.

I reviewed that text while I was compiling my chart. I have no idea if any of them have been found beyond one example. The one I have my doubts about more than the others is the 2006 WDDO-045 which is hard to believe has not been found while people hunted for 2006 DDO-004. At some point maybe I will send an email and inquire.
