Nice pictures Jason. I just bought 16 OBW rolls of the 1990. Here's hoping I find one.

    Finally got this graded.

It sure took me a while, but I finally got this coin graded as the ANACS/CONECA discovery piece for this die. I'm happy with the grade and am just glad it wasn't body bagged! Still my most exciting find to date! No others yet reported! Where are they hiding??

    Congrats with the grade, John.
But how in the world does ANACS call this the "discovery piece," when the first example has been known for 20 years and is in published reference books?

That is a great question Dennis. I discussed this with Cindy when I submitted the coin to ANACS at the PNNA show. I gave her a copy of my letter from Dr. Wiles stating that it was the first reported for CONECA, but also referenced the ErrorScope article where it clearly stated that this was at least the second example known. She took all my information and made notes on the submission form for them to research. I guess that worked.

I think, as long as you are the first to submit a coin to an attributor, you can get Discovery Coin under that attributor's designation, but it takes the documentation to prove it. Basically, a letter from Bob, Chuck, Dr. Wiles or Wexler noting the new listing and your name. I was also awarded the Discovery Coin designation for the 2010D-1DO-001 DDO that was first reported for Coppercoins.
