    The micro allows you to get closer to the coin. Give it a try and keep playing around with it.

    Very important to have the camera set to take pics at its highest megapixel resolution.
    And try to avoid taking pics while holding camera(or coin) in hand, especially with close-ups.

    That's great! Now in Picasa right click picture and make a copy. Take copy and crop date and mint mark.

    Much better image and you see how putting it on a neutral background helps isolate the coin and allows the eye to better focus in on it.

    That's not to great of a looking coin but that's the way it came out of the bag..Still not a bad picture for a beginner on a camera
