  1. Due to recent discussions, I have added 2 new terms to the glossary.

Thank you to Rollem for suggesting the entry "relief," and to Roller, Wapa, and Jfines69 for their added discussion.

Relief: In numismatics, relief refers to the difference between the high and low points in the coin’s design elements. However, when preceded by the word “in,” as in “the anomaly is in releif,” it usually means raised.

Also being added is Tapered Planchet. Special thank to 2Old for suggesting this term and donating the awesome photos!

Tapered Planchet: This is a planchet whose thickness is not consistent around its perimeter. It will exhibit an area of thinness at which it will subsequently receive a weaker strike than the rest of the coin, resulting in weak or missing devices. These tapered planchets are created when an error occurs in their production in the rolling mill. Photos donated by forum member 2Old.

I also added the word "incuse" to the Dropped Letter entry:

Dropped Letter: This is a type of struck-through where the “gunk” that is stuck in a filled die falls out and lands on a planchet before being struck. The “gunk” that is in the shape of a letter or digit is then struck into the planchet producing an incuse extra letter or digit. It could be oriented normally or in mirror-image, depending on how the gunk landed on the planchet. The photo below shows a dropped letter B from LIBERTY.

Great job everyone. Let's keep growing this resource!
