I bought my first container of acetone a few days ago...then I find this...

After reading the instructions on the container and reading the info on the coin cleaning and conservation section I think I better wait before I open the container ! I'm thinking a lot of practice is needed to get the method to where it's successful. This morning I find this 1972 DDO...any advice is appreciated .

I'm not sure if it's the light or not, but the color is off..maybe that has something to do with the spots. From what I've learned here copper doesn't take long to discolor if improperly stored .

That coin will not be helped by acetone (it does not need help). You need not fear using acetone on circulated coins. The "experiment" has been done by others before us.

Acetone won't hurt it..but it won't help it. No need to help that find!
