    2002-P DOUBLED DIE OBVERSE (EARLOBE)

    Hello all,
I am writing about this 2002-P WDDO earlobe, I have looked at thousands of this year and NEVER found one, is this coin a real doubled die?. Reason being you would think that anyone else would of found one in LCR?. If this coin exsits please let me know with pictures and if any of you know if anyone else found one. Because this coin was found by Crawford from the start....Please let me know.

    Thank you all,
    Patrick

There are a few controversial Lincoln varieties that I've heard about over the years, and some of them involved Billy Crawford. But, I don't know about this particular one you are asking about. I give 2002's a quick look and have found a few DDR columns, but no extra earlobe.

I asked to see the 2002P WDDO-001 doubled earlobe when it was reported in order to examine it and add it to coppercoins. Unfortunately, I was never given the opportunity to do so. I do have questions about this die, as well as the WDDO-002 (extra strand of hair) that Mr. Wexler lists. Until I get the chance to see these, then we will go with the listings as published but I have never seen either of them nor have they been reported to me. If that changes, I will certainly let you know Patrick.

Thank you Bob and Viv, it just seems really fishy that he would not send that to you Bob. That tells me either he made that in Photoshop, or something else. Also the other coin that Billy said he found that I have never seen or found myself is the 1996-P wide "AM"....Ok thank you again for the replies.

John, there's a post somewhere on the forum where someone had heard Mr. Crawford had passed. Nothing was said in that thread about his collection, or where it could be.

There was supposedly a 1988 doubled ear I believe that opened the can of worms. It's best to let the dead rest in peace.

I do agree agree also with the people who passed. I did not know that Mr. Crawford has passed. R.I.P.
