    1989 P odd double clash

    Additional Information
    Date: 1989

I have what appears to be a double clash but cannot find a match. The closest thing is CCL(TI)-1c-1989-02 counter clash but different (http://www.maddieclashes.com/cclti-1c-1989-02/). There is no apparent clash on the obverse and the oddest thing is the contour of the clash is backwards or opposite of what the back of the jacket should be and what other clashes look like. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Jon.

That is a real nice dual clash event Jon! I think Jason has certain criteria for listing die clashes and one of them is, he prefers both sides of the coin to exhibit clash marks and be unabraded. But, if it is a real unusual die clash the rules change some. Nice keeper you got there though!

Thanks Viv!! I appreciate the info about having to be on both sides too, I didn't realize.

You are welcome Jon! I think it's because unabraded die clashes are less common and being on both sides of the coin is too. But, still post your die clash finds, they are cool to see and don't come around very often! The more clashes that are visible, the higher chance that it would be listable so we still want to see them!

Nice find... The lower clash is from the back of Abes neck... The upper clash is from the back of Abes jacket and the neck... It is farther east and north than the other clash... That is why we see more of the jacket... Normally that section of jacket would be covered over by C4 and then show in B3... Apparently the obv die that clashed with the rev die was changed out... Hope that helps a little!!!

Thanks Jim! I just thought the contour was flip flopped. It looks backwards from what the clash normally looks like. I could be wrong.

Take a look at this die clash http://www.maddieclashes.com/tdc-1c-2003d-01/

It looks odd because normally you don't see so much of the jacket in the clash. Your die clash must be misaligned (maybe also tilted) because Lincoln's neck and jacket clashed big time! Cool die clash to hang onto and when Jason gets back, ask him if he has an interest to list it.

I just realized that Viv had left me a link and I can see and understand it now. It just looked really different, I'm just a little slow sometimes.
