    1934 penny doubling?

Hello: I've been collecting and researching pennies now for just a couple of years, but I'm still trying to get to the point where I can recognize what is called "doubling". I have a 1934 P that looks like it has some minor doubling in the "3". Comments, hints, tips? I would appreciate your collective expertise

What I see is possible MD and a hit on the 3. The picture is not adequate to definitively say but it is not hub doubling. If it were you would see effects of on the other numbers of the date and device which are not pictured in this post.

We'll see what the others say but it looks like it took a hit, damage.

As for pointers, I would research all the great peoples posts on here and study how things look, actual Hub Doubling as apposed to damage or the more popular MD(machine doubling). There are a pile of links that you have access to right on this forum too (http://www.lincolncentforum.com/links/). The most important thing is not worrying about posting, just post and ask questions. These folks have a lot to offer but you have to reach out.

It is very hard to identify markers, doubling, rpm’s, etc. on circulated examples. Study the coins in better condition to help you with circulated coins.

Also, when you have a coin that you are questioning, you can go to this link... type in the date and select the mint mark and see what type of doubling to be looking for. There are other very good attribution sites such as doubleddie.com and variety vista, but this has always been my favorite because it's easy to get around in and the photos are great!
