Which one would you keep ???

Got 2 - 1929 S Cents. One is graded MS 64 RED, the other is 65 R&B, but I will not tell you which is which. I just want to hear what your preference is. Negative comments are welcome! Scratches or marks are on the coin slab.

Thanks in advance for your time.

top one 64.....it's tough grading coins already in slabs, but that would be my call

I would keep the lower one... To me the upper looks as if some detail is missing from the west wheat stalk???

Since coin #2 looks to have a remnant of a tilted die clash that left S mintmark clashed into the reverse, it would be coin #2 that I would keep .

#2 for sure. I like the color. I like the reverse, which is much earlier die state than #1. I'm not as fond of the weak UST in TRUST on #2 but I think the other qualities win. They are from different obverse dies (MM is lower on #2) so have you closely inspected both to see any hint of repunching on either one?

Thanks everyone. I agree with your collective views that the second one, which is the 65 R&B example is the nicer coin. And I did check to make sure that there is no RPM, in fact, the 65 was bought with the hopes it was, but in this case the gamble may have still paid off with nicer regular 29 s.

It's actually good to know there are other die pairs with a clashed S mintmark other than rpm #1.
    Many thanks !

The second has a nicer reverse, the first is more red.

I would make my choice based on a few things.

If my set is more based on grade and having a full reverse then #2 wins.
If my set is more based on being unc and red then #1 wins.
If those are a toss up, maybe sell the one that can be sold for the most.

Myself, I like the reverse on #2 but I'm a sucker for older reds so if I could keep #1 for less money I'd keep it.
