    1909 unknown DDR on ebay

    Here's a 1909 DDR, of which die I cannot identify based on the photos. The extra thickness is tough to pick up in photos but if you look at the tips of the wheats you can see the angles of the light is slightly off and reflects the doubling. Additionally, minor extra thickness is present on the wheat stems and EPL.

    Nice looking coin... Not sure it is a DDR tho??? The closest on CC is 004 http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/d...&die_state=mds even looks to have a die chip in the top of EPU but I do not see any of the other thickness on the devices??? COuld be wrong tho as you are much better at these than I am!!!

    Is there some thickness on the U of UNITED and the O of OF as well?

    I can't really make out any extra thickness other than what I mentioned above. The die chip is a common factor in multiple different dies and is not a reliable marker. Though the coin does look essentially normal to most, there are extremely subtle differences between this coin and a non-DDR.

    Here is a non-DDR from the same seller. The most easily discernable difference is the thickness of the wheat stems. However, even that is still minor.
