    1982 D Small Date and 1972 D DDO

Hello everyone glad to be here and hopefully obtain a lot of knowledge from your knowledgeable collectors. I'm just here trying to help my dad with his off and on over the year collection and two pocket him some money for his retirement gears. Attaching a picture of a couple of coins I am thinking of getting graded, but not having ever sent anything in to be graded, I was looking for y'all's opinion first. Looking forward to many many conversations with you al.l thank you very much

Welcome to the forum. Glad to hear you're helping him out. Nice images.
I'm going to guess the 1982 weighs 2.5 grams? Nice looking coin but hard to help with any grade.
(It's usually best to post one coin per thread so you get more replies and less confusion.)

Which one of the varieties is the 1972? I can't really see anything when I enlarge it.

Do you think the 82-D SD is copper?

I think the 72-D is from the doubled master, if it is it's not worth extra.
I think I see the master doubling on the U and the re-cut IN.

Welcome to the LCF... Lots of knowledgeable folks here... Looking forward to your postings... About mid way thru 1982 The mint switched from a solid copper/zinc mix (weight ~3.11 grams) on the cent to a copper plated zinc core (weight ~2.5 grams)... Here is some info on the different ones http://www.lincolncentresource.com/smalldates/1982.html If your 82D is solid it is rare as they were not suppose to have been minted... Some have been found... On the 72 it does look like MDD (Master Die Doubling) Here is some info to help you out there http://www.lincolncentforum.com/1972...-die-doubling/

Welcome Noel! That is great you are helping your father sort out his collection, there's a good chance of finding some nice finds there!

Really good photos of two nice looking Lincoln cents! The 82D SD Copper is the rare one, but there is an 82D SD Zinc doubled die, here is the link https://coppercoins.com/lincoln/dies...&die_state=mds

If I were you, I'd keep both of them since they are both in very good condition. You don't see a lot of 82D SD's in good shape like that and the 72D with master die doubling is a good example also!

Do you mean sets of 1982 Lincoln cents? (Solid Copper and Copper Plated zinc)
