Hopefully I am not asking a dumb question but I am curious how often one will find a proof strike (like this coin) from a brick roll? This is the third occasion I have found one. Previous finds were "S" pennies minted in the 1980"s.
Either people spending a collection maybe inherited or stolen.
With proof sets, if people break up a set for a particular coin some of the others might not be worth trying to sell or with proofs once they are impaired the value drops so fast they might as well be spent.
Ain't no such thing as a dumb question around here so no worries! I've been searching bricks for just over 5 years and have never found a proof in rolls so I'd say it's pretty uncommon.
I have found well over 50 or 60 proof cents in rolls or circ bags over the years. In addition, I do not hesitate to add some lower quality or damaged proofs to outgoing rolls or bags. I just think it's another way of giving back to the hobby. People who don't necessarily get into the hobby as much as others will definitely enjoy finding one in circulation. Congrats on your find!
