    Answered: 1964 Proof or SMS?

    How does one distinguish between a '64 proof and SMS. (Other than there likely are no SMS' in the wild, LOL.) The attached is believed to be a proof.

    This looks like a regular 1964 Proof George. The SMS cents actually had some N-S abrasions on the obverse as well as die scratches in a couple of the memorial bays. As you probably know...only a thousand or so were actually minted so the chances of finding one are scarce to none. Here's a link for the markers:
