1970 Canadian penny doubled or not

Found this 1970 Canadian cent, it looks to be doubled, I looked at a site "Coins and Canada" and they have some similar to mine. Was wondering if anyone here knows about these coins? All comments are welcome thanks...............dinkyblue

This is really interesting Dan! It looks like MD where the devices have extreme thinness.... but those notches look to be from doubling. Curious to see what the guys say!

I think it's a combination of DDD and md. A lot of chatter in that die!

I think it's all MD. Look at the dots, it clearly looks like shelf-into not added to.

Another clue might be get a pic of a normal one side by side, look at the LI and I doubt a normal one is thin like that, it looks like the MD made it very thin on the verticals of LI.

I was thinking the same as enamel7, maybe a combination DD and MD due to the notches on the bottom left letters of CANADA, and the notch on the top left of the 7 in the date, I think your right about the MD but to me it does look a little like separation lines on some of the devises. I looked at the listings on "Coins and Canada" and some look similar. Thank you for your comments.............Dan

I looked at your pics a couple of times last night Dan but was not sure what all was going on and figured I would wait to see what the more knowledgeable folks said. I think what enamel is referring too is not a Doubled Die but DDD (Die Deterioration Doubling). A lot happening but as the guys said, probably no Doubled DIE. Cool coin and pics though.

The obv looks to be a heavily worn die... Notice the areas between the dots and the rim in your images of ELIZABETH II as well as the tops of the letters... The metal flows toward the rim... The letters also have some MD most noteable on the ETH and 2nd I... There also appears to be MD on the rev but the notches I am not sure about... Those could be a DDR??? Larry (Joel) has found a lot of Canadian coins so hopefully he will chime in!!!

I like the way these Canadian penny's look more than I do the Lincoln cents, to bad they did away with them. I think it's only a matter of time before they do away with our Lincoln penny's. This coin has a lot of MD going on everywhere. I posted it because of the notches on the date, and on the letters of CANADA I find this one very interesting as there is a lot going on with it. If you check the listing on Coins and Canada you will see why. I know it's not worth anything but it is interesting. Thanks for your time and I hope Larry can shed more light on it.......................Dan
