    1964-d lincoln

    This 1964-d has a mirror like finish with everything very thick on obv & rev,lots of damage.Anyone seen this before?

    I think it's a beat to death coin, sort of a dryer coin. It even has a melted look but I think it's really polished damage not melted.

    Anyway my guess is it was heavily damaged. Sometimes people clean up metal detector finds in a rock tumbler to make them spendable, that might be the case or someone was super bored to polish it up individually. The other thing might be that whatever machine it was in that gave it the dryer effect also polished it up, like spinning with a mix of stuff big (that beat it up) and small (that polished it).

    As with most damaged coins we can only guess at exactly how it was done.
