    I would let it be a mystery to add to your detector finds. I like mysteries for conversations. And it can be anything you want it to be, cleaning might show it is just silica bronze slag from welding. Fun stuff.

    Funny that you mentioned that. I know someone that was sure they found a meteorite. It looked like this object but more black not copper and was somewhat magnetic. He brought it to the local university and they determined it was a blob of slag from welding.


    One thing to see on this object is if it is magnetic at all.
    I think a copper jacketed bullet/slug would not be magnetic at all since it's lead/copper.
    Copper nodule probably would not be magnetic at all.
    A meteorite or slag is likely to be at least slightly magnetic.
