On Friday I picked up a box of pennies from my big box bank location. All rolls were heavily circulated. A lot of corrosion and zinc rot. But also a lot of copper coins.
Before I post the stats I did find three pennies to add to my collection. One Bahamian penny with a starfish on the reverse, very cool coin for an old salt to put on his desk. One red 1974 D with great detail and a counter stamp of the state of Alaska and AK stamped in the middle of the state. Very cool because I have been to Alaska before. And a 1992 toner. Pink and purple with copper highlights, stunning to turn in the light.
Stats:
490 total coppers (19%)
215 coppers to date sort later (8.6%)
193 coppers damaged and into the bullion bag (7.7%)
66 copper non bullion dates to check for errors (2.6%)
9 wheat pennies
6 Canadian coppers
1 Bahamian copper
