Answered: 1989P question about the first 9

I've had this one set aside for awhile and thought I'd ask. The first 9 just looks weird, I don't think it's separation but I've not seen this before either.

Not seeing anything interesting at TRUST, the IB of Liberty is ?? but the coin is not in very good shape

Just a guess on my part but it sure looks like it may have sustained a minor hit at one time Viv. Not very hard, but enough to mess with the width and the surface of that digit.

What causes the bottom left corner of LIBE to extend WSW?

Thank you very much Bob for calming down my imagination! I was thinking all kinds of stuff like possible die damage or unusual die wear I've not seen yet! I was somewhat questioning Cliff's question above about the appearance of the "left corner of LIBE to extend WSW" because some of the 89 DD's have that, but this 9 made no sense
