Interesting Jon! My first thought is a large interior die break that has been smoothed over from circulation wear and below the E looks like a die chip that has nothing to do with the other anomaly. Just my one cent's worth? I'm really not sure

Jon, that looks like a Jewish yarmulke (skull cap). I didn't realize Lincoln was Jewish.

I think Viv got it right about a large interior die break.

Thank you Cliff, but I'm really not sure. Although 56P has some whopper IDB's at the top of the hair, here's Cuds On Coins link http://cuds-on-coins.com/lincoln-cen...eak-1909-1958/

    there's some whopper 55's too!

It is an RIDB. I don't think I see it listed on COC.

Thanks for looking!! I looked at the IDB's last night and did not even think to look at the RIDB's. I think my brain went to bed before I did. There were several listed and a couple of close ones but I think you are right, I did not see it.

Thanks Jim!! I don't get a shot at many wheat oddities or varieties. This was a cool one though that Viv pushed me to look at the breaks that were listed on and around this date, some good ones!
