Coin Roll Hunting Part 7 - New Credit Union Branch

So if you want something different you have to try something different. I joined a local credit union recently. Partly because I want a local bank ( my regular bank is a big box ). Secondly because want a different source for my coin roll hunting.

Today I visited a different branch to grab some pennies. I asked the young lady for a box of pennies. She briefly gave me a curious look and asked how many pennies I needed. I told her $25, so she reached under the counter and pulled out a plastic Brinks box. it was loaded with $25 in rolls. Apparently they dont buy boxes of change. The next time I go in I'll as them how they get their coinage. If they get bags of coins and self roll I may inquire how much a bag is .

So now for the different. Take a look at the odd lot of rolls that I got. Four different types of wrappers. The group in the top right were NF String rolls, which is very common in my area. The wrappers in the bottom right were the type that I found a wheat penny dump at the other branch of the credit union. And take a look at the one marked up in the center. My heart skipped a beat when I saw that one. When I opened it, there was a surprise, not a single wheat.

I have not been getting many 2009 pennies. Like maybe 3 per box and all trashed. This box I got ten 2009 pennies that were in good shape (not counted in keeper stats) and another 5 that I tossed. I plan on putting together circulated rolls and sit on them for 20 years. Also, in my keepers I had three nice proofs. I personally do not care for the older proofs. I prefer cameo or deep cameo proofs. But they fill a hole in my collection.

    Stats:

    Total Cu 440
    Cu % 17.6
    Cu to date sort 88
    Cu date sort % 0.71
    Cu error sort 272
    Cu error sort % 10.9
    Cu bullion 80
    Cu bullion % 3.2
    Wheats 6
    Wheat % 0.2
    Keepers 9
    Keeper % 0.4
    Non Cu Error dates 676
Non Cu Error Date % 27.4
    Foreigns 8
    Foreigns % 0.3
    9 dimes

It really throws some folks when you ask for a box/brick of pennies I would have thought you would get a few wheats out of a mixed box!!!

All good now!! A lot of hand rolled for sure! I take it you're a Star Wars junkie! I'm not really either but would be closer to a Trekkie, especially the older movies and the original series!

Nice diverse group of rolls like you said.
I'm poking my way through a brick with rolls similar to the ones on the top and bottom left. The ones with red stripes that you fold both ends over were looking real promising with 44%, 40%, high 30's of solid coppers.

That came to a screeching halt as there have been 5-6 rolls now with 0% solid coppers. I knew I would come across a barren roll eventually but didn't think it would happen in this group. Oh Well, at least now I won't have to fret any more. Counting solid coppers just gives me something to do when no varieties or errors show up.
