    Small mouth

First and only one I've ever caught. Returned to the lake after a good fight. On a little vacation at my son's house on lake Candlewood, CN. Great time and will be better equipped for possibly more next time. Roger will appreciate this for sure along with all you fishermen out there.

Very nice size for a small mouth. Congrats.
Judging by your diving plug it he took, it must have been down in/near some rocks?

Nice catch Roller! Did those treble hooks get him in the top and bottom lip? I'd say that one was not going to get away! Sounds like a fun trip with your son!

Yes, the lake is mostly rock structured. It is man made. They flooded the whole area in the 30s for a hydro electric project.

Thanks Viv. The hooks were lodged in the corner of its mouth (and later in my thumb, LOL).

It was a good size fish though I did/could not measure or weigh it since my son's pontoon boat is not well equipped for fishing (though that will change, rapidly). He did not even have pliers on board which is why one of the hooks wound up in my thumb as I was manually removing the treble.

Heh, heh. When I don't have my work truck, I am totally out of my comfort zone. I forget many people don't keep some of the simplest tools around. I even have a small set of basic tools in the wife's car. Very nice smallmouth though, I did a lot of river fishing in my early years and that was primarily what I fished for. They are a great sport fish! Yup, hafta upgrade the party barge.

Ouch Roller, seen that happen before! Not fun! We used to keep pliers and wire cutters on board because those treble hooks can be a real pain sometimes! I can remember releasing a few that looked stunned when they hit the water, and a few seconds later they quickly swam away
