1970 Memorial Penny with a double clip planchet error.

I found this penny in a bunch of customer rolls that I picked up at my local bank over the weekend. It appears to me to be a legit double clip error. I don’t think it is PMD. Just was wondering what the experts here think. Thanks.

Nice find retiredcopper! I'm no pro but I think you are correct! Never found one myself, but compared yours to the photos on error-ref.com and it looks good to me!

The one below CENT looks legit to me but the one on the East side of the obverse does not match the arc (contour) of the cent so if legitimate, I'm thinking it is a straight clip with some wear. The latter concerns me some though because the Blakesley effect is not apparent on the directly opposite rim.

It looks genuine to me. I see what George is referring to but I have seen many clips without a Blakesley effect and have also seen many where curves don't appear to be the same size as the coin clipped. That can be attributed to the edge of the strip or overlapping punches.

Excellent find... I am on the double clip... To add on to Bobs' comments here is an article by Mike Diamond https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-co...ouse.all.html# in Coin World... Even tho it is on a 25c the diagnostics apply across all denominations... If you skip thru the article make sure to read the last paragraph!!!

Added - Hope that helps a little!!!
