1987 memorial penny with multiple die chips on the obverse?

Found this one in a customer roll from my bank. To me it looks like four individual die chips in a row on the left side of the obverse. Hope the experts here can take a look and let me know.

You can see a ghost ring and those anomalies lie right on that ring.

I think those are eruptions in the zinc core where the copper plating had been pierced.
They appear to be on a ridge ring.

What he said. Those aren't die chips. The plating has ruptured and the zinc is erupting from inside.

Thanks to all of you for educating me again. This is one great site!! I've been collecting pennies for over 50 years and learn something new here every time.

I'm in with the ridge ring and corrosion... The large bubble near IN appears to have opened up exposing more of the core... On the 80s frankenzincs I see a lot of the MMs with this issue... So bad that the MMs fall out leaving a crater the size of the Grand Canyon Any time the plating gets damage the zinc gets exposed and the coin is done in... Just a matter of time!!!
