I think those only work on 5 cent pieces Jim.

The chemicals should work on the one cent but not as effective... The design if worn away is still impressed in the underlying structure of the coin... On a plated coin it would most likely dissolve the copper before showing the underlying structure... This is the same principle as raising the filed off serial number from a gun!!!
