That's cool... That blank looks to be in really good shape also... If memory serves me correct your other blank was in at least as good of shape as this one???

You are right Jim. The other one was in almost planchet MS. Here is the link.

From what I've read these plated planchets are much more scarce than solid coppers.

Cliff, I think I find about one or two a year so they are rare.

Thanks for the follow up and link... Looks like the other planchet is in much better shape... You could be correct on the MS which is even more cool!!!

Congrats Larry J! This is a very nice planchet and even though it's not MS like the previous one... still a rare find! Very nice find!

Blanks seem rare based on searchers finding them.

The odd thing is on ebay I've seen lots of sellers offering rolls of them. Makes me wonder if some bricks have a ton of them or since they are now made and supplied to the mint (not made by the mint) that somehow they are available from the supplier.

Check out this auction, not stated if zinc or solid copper, full rolls, more than 10 rolls sold, more than 10 rolls available so somehow some sellers get thousands of them:

Cool... The advertisement says Copper for Composition in the Description tab... Was it last year that there was a shipment of planchets that got scattered all over a highway on the east coast???
