I’m still getting a hundred or more customer wrapped rolls from my bank each week along with a brick or two. Last night I was searching a CWR and was shocked to find 28, 1943-D steel pennies. The roll also had 9, very worn Wheaties from the teens and twenties. Customer rolls continue to amaze me.
Amazing to find that many steel cents in a roll... I agree with Jon, somebody probably rolled up a collection that had been sitting around for awhile. Congrats for getting these and all the great finds you are finding in those customer rolls!

Nice finds!
Maybe go back quick and ask for more CWRs, you might get some more of what that person cashed out.
The bank gave me all the CWR's that the had at the time, 86 rolls. I am done with about 60 rolls so far. I know when I find a roll from that customer, lots of Wheaties. Found about 200 so far.
Awesome finds... One nice bank to get rolls from... At 75 some of those coins are in really nice shape on one side... I hope the other sides are just as good!!!

Steel cents wear differently. The zinc wears off the cheek and high spots but the steel is harder than copper so they don't wear as fast. That's why they could take cents like this, clean them with acid and re-plate them and they looked pretty good.
Their enemy was that the zinc grew oxide spots or if they got wet the steel rusted but other than that they hold up well.
