1989 P for the Ed system.

The obverse die was plumb worn out and the reverse well on its way but still what I would consider an MS coin from a bank roll. There is a little zinc poking through on UNITED STATES.

A few Ed coins are all I'm coming up with on the island....

    Thanks for looking, Jon.

That is a nice 89 Jon! That's cool you are finding some Ed System Lincolns, but I know you're really wanting a doubled die. If there's one in that box, I know you will find it

Still fun to snag some keepers in between finding a doubled die.

Nice looking 89... It may be my pair of doilies at play but yours looks like a weak strike to me??? I think the diagnostics (Except for the reed portion) as outlined on Error Ref http://www.error-ref.com/?s=weak+strike are there??? I see the ridge ring on the obv but the rims do not look correct for a full strike... Also the VDB appears to be complete (not missing any portion closest to the field)... The dies looks out of alignment and the devices are weak looking???

For those new to the LCF I use the term pair of doilies in ref to the following correct term from our Glossary -

Pareidolia: The phenomenon where people see patterns or objects in otherwise random data. People often “see” extra design elements that aren’t really there in a coin’s damaged areas, plating blisters, stains, etc.

Kind of like a movie called The 6th Sense

Mister Fines, I would say that once again, you are correct!! That was a good read on the "Weak Strike". I had not looked at that before, lots of very good info. I never thought about a weak strike being a possible test piece either.
