1909S-VDB reported but Ebay has done nothing
I ran into this in my ongoing search for an example. I reported it yesterday and Ebay has done nothing. This example is ludicrous and at $355 now. Why would Ebay not look at the report? Just trying to save someone like myself.

Jay, I brought this member from another forum, VAMworld (silver dollars). He has some sort of special contact with eBay and gets things taken down quickly. I don't know if he comes on here enough to check PM's but you can go to his profile and email him. If he can, he will help. Link to profile (http://www.lincolncentforum.com/foru...5835-djf-coins)

Look at that funny date, the pointed top 1, big 9s and big 0. Obvious fake.

Ha, also has the phony die chip on the left wheat stock.
Nineteen watchers too.

Yes it does have the same die chip as the well known fakes.
It also has some issue on the reverse where the rim is doubled so the high point is not at the outward edge. (like ex encased) but it's not ex encased, just plain old fake.
An identical fake with that funny pointed 1 is used as figure 1 in this ebay guide about fake 1909-S VDBs.

Definitely a bad fake.
For what ever it is worth I sent an email to the seller with a link to the PCGS web site so they could see what a real one looks like.
The seller only has one sale the past year (a beer label?) so I started off by suggesting since he does't sell many he might not be familiar with the number style used and suggested he do the right thing and cancel the auction. Lets see if he replies or cancels the auction.

I tried to message the guy in a similar fashion first but got an error message that it didn't go through. So I just reported it. I have shotty wi-fi sometimes so it may have been on my end...or Devine intervention! If I would have gotten those replies I would have gotten pissed off, probably sent something I shouldn't have, and got in trouble with eBay. Thanks for your effort friend! I couldn't stand the thought of someone getting hosed on that coin. Still shows how many just throw money around without knowing anything about what they are buying. So sad!

So true. People just bidding Willy Nilly but I think this guy just didn't want to know so he could unload it and let someone else deal with the fake.

It's a shame you can't contact the bidders and warn them.

The B of VDB has a straight center bar instead of the angled bar also... Hard to believe that ebay would let it continue??? 15 bids and at $365.00 with 20 watchers!!!
Jim
(A.K.A. Elmer Fudd) Be verwy verwy quiet... I'm hunting coins!!! Good Hunting!!!
