This is the closest thing I see and I'm not sure. Where yours has wear and been smeared a little and the listing pic is out of focus I can't quite tell. The flow lines look the same around the mm though. Yours looks like it may be closer to the base of Monticello.

I saw that one. The only difference is is that the bar on the VV is on the inside of the D. Whereas, mine is on the left outside of the D. The VV seems to have been stamped in the direction of backwards to the left on top of the originally stamped D. Mine is stamped on top and towards the right of the original D. But, otherwise, they do look similar. This is hard to find the right words to describe it. But, do you see what I am talking about? If you can, copy each photo and compare them side by side. You don’t need to post them.

I'm not sure but this might be an extreme example of MD.
The second, partial one is flat instead of rounded on top. Also there is no actual separation or notching between the two lower serifs.
(I hope it is an RPM though.)

I never considered that. I guess that it could be. I am trying to do as much research as I can. There just isn’t enough information about nickels.

That's a good point Cliff, it does look like MD after going back and checking it out again.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I don't know if there just were not as many varieties to begin with or maybe they just aren't searched as much as Lincolns.

I do believe that it is MD now too. There are no notches or serifs.
