    There is no additional thickness to the letters.
    So I would say either plating or circulation .

    I agree with Cliff (Petespockets55), your coin has a lot of plating disturbance that might be making the devices look thicker to you. Also the lower G of GOD looks like it took a hit that has flattened it some and the OD of GOD appears to be a circulation hit at the bottom.

    Thanks for the link. While this site and others are great resources for what's been found, if you only look for what's already been found you'll never find anything new

    I call that my pair of doilies Here is the definition from our Glossary -

    Pareidolia: The phenomenon where people see patterns or objects in otherwise random data. People often “see” extra design elements that aren’t really there in a coin’s damaged areas, plating blisters, stains, etc.

    All of us see things this way from time to time!!!
