It could e that someone opened an original roll and when they found nothing, they put them into circulation. That is a very clean coin and one that I would hold on to. How many other almost 50 year old coins you see that nice?

Congrats Dearing! Really nice 69S! You may find more than 4 at the rate you're going!

Always nice to find almost 50 year old cents that look fresh like that.

I wouldn't say it's common, the folks in the east don't get many of the 68-74 S mint cents. Out west we get more but rarely see one that's still a red unc.

It's a nice mini unc roll set to do those 7 dates of S mint memorials. They were all hoarded because of the S mint mystique so they should only be a few dollars each. Whatever you do don't buy a 69-S roll on ebay that's hyped about "possible DDOs" because the odds are slim, not that it's impossible but they're not worth a huge hype premium and tons of them are out there and probably already searched.

Not to mention that if lots of rolls are available from a seller, someone would have scarfed them all up if they found a '69-s DDO. I know I would if I found one in a roll.
