Anticipation!
Stopped by a coin shop today and ended up getting these two rolls of 66's. They do appear to be original. Usually the anticipation is better than the reality but oh the potential

Good luck John!! One of my toughest times is the anticipation of waiting for something to come in the mail from eBay when I think I've cherrypicked something but am not quite sure!!

So John.. just curious... about how long do you think it will take you to get through those rolls??? Hope since there's no D written on the coin roller, that you have all Philly's!!!

Viv , I've been working on a honey do list item all evening, though I did open one roll and spot check each coin for the two majors with no luck. One roll left and all of them to go over really well!
I wish I could find a mintmark on one of them since there were no mintmarks on any US coins that year
Bob , I already have your name on one of the six from the next roll !

Well, that shows you what I know LOL... why were there no mint marks in 1966? Were all coins minted that year in Philly?
I don't see many 1966's as it is, and so not seeing a 66D was no big thing to me

65-66-67.... no mintmarks on cents but they were still made in P and D (maybe S???) but had no mintmarks.
Supposedly something in the coin act of 1965 told them to not use mintmarks. It also told them to stop using 90% silver for normal coins (but they did make 40% halves 65 through 70).
People have said removing mintmarks was also to stop collectors from pulling so many coins from circulation since they thought they had been running short on coins in the early 60s.
In reality it may have been because everyone was hoarding the 64 and older silver, (and maybe some wheat cents?) that certainly pulled a lot more coins from circulation than collectors saving some from each mint.
Seems like the shortages were gone a few years later and they started putting mintmarks back on in 68 (including S mint cents 68 through 74), maybe nobody was hoarding a bunch of clads and memorial cents by then LOL.
