    Answered: Type I or II?

This is from a 1981 proof LC.

The extra date and MM you see are in the plastic cover.

    Nice clear MM.
I believe you have the type II.
The centers of the loops appear round.

I would say type I but can't tell for sure from the pic. The serifs look to make contact with the rest of the mm and the lower serif looks smaller like the type I.

You (two) precisely framed my thoughts on this. For the longest time I have considered it to be Type II but, after looking at it today, I started to waver so I figured that I'd ask.

Now I'm back in at square one.

I know the plastic is tough to get a decent pic through but you need a nice clean, clear, straight on shot of this one to be able to tell for sure.

Alright, don't know Dave but seems to have the best pics and more than one site with different shots of them. From what I have gotten off these sites more than anything is the Type I is inline, as far as the serifs and the "counter", the counter being the far circular area, top right and bottom left of the "S". On the Type II the serifs extend beyond this. See what you think. Link (https://www.davescollectiblecoins.co...of-2-coin-set/)

Forgot to add, sticking with type I.

A little hillbilly simplicity... Sorry but simple works for me!

This was a good breakdown. Link from Dave Enders on Type I and Type II coins. (https://www.davescollectiblecoins.com/april-2016-video/)

    Thanks for your assistance.

I understand what you are saying about being 'inline'.

I am still undecided and may just have to remove it from the flip and get a better view. As Petespocket55 pointed out the centers are open and the video described Type I as a blob.

Mine is not deep cameo, either.
