    CU-1c-1982-__(LD)(CU) Unlisted CUD

    Additional Information
    Date: 1982

Found this a couple days ago. COC has about 70 listed for the 82P. I was surprised to see this one was not listed.(Unless I missed it)

    Very nice find.
I don't think there are many available of most cuds because the mint would have removed the die once it was realized a piece of the die broke off. Equipment may even stop automatically.
I'm guessing a chunk of the die "floating" around heavy machinery die presses are easy to spot, visually as well as audibly. Mint workers would pick up on a disruption in the rhythm and flow.

Like a finely tuned violin that has a string break.

Nice find... We sure it couldn't be an earlier stage of COCs http://cuds-on-coins.com/lincoln-cent-cuds-1982/ 026, 055 or 064??? Since these are obv most likely they were the hammer die so the chunk of die could have been thrown clear???

It could be but it looks like the die was chipping counter clockwise on mine. It is possible the die deteriorated clockwise as well.

Yours is one that JC will need to determine for sure especially if there are no markers to go with!!!
