    1990 LMC obverse die wear?

    More newbie questions

Another LMC with strange lettering. Trying to determine how this would be classified - die wear?

Real good question MrBill! I think... but I'm not sure... that this is similar to a struck through grease. I've seen this same anomaly before and I think I asked about it... but now I can't remember Let's see what the guys have to say!

That is odd! I'm thinking it's die deterioration simply because if it were grease that distance around the rim I would expect some of the design to be missing in epu.

I've always chalked this up to a form of MD (on ED of UNITED.)

Possibly MD also on the C in AMERICA but what about the curved line in both A's in AMERICA? Can MD cause curved lines?

I'm in with MD... Slide or push type and I am leaning toward some isolated slide MD especially with the distortion caused in the devices... Here is some MD info from Error ref - http://www.error-ref.com/?s=machine+doubling Hope that helps a little!!!
