1944-D incorrectly labeled DDO-001 FS-101 on Great Collections

Here is an auction of a coin wrongly attributed by PCGS. Do not bid on this coin if you want the FS variety. https://www.greatcollections.com/Coi...-PCGS-MS-66-RB

I think it is likely to be DDO-006 http://varietyvista.com/01a%20LC%20D...944DDDO006.htm

Whatever it is, it is 100% not DDO-001/FS-101. http://varietyvista.com/01a%20LC%20D...944DDDO001.htm

Thanks for the heads up Dan.
The 4's on that coin aren't close to the FS 101

    Interesting, thanks for the warning.

Strange though -- It's as if PCGS knows they have one mis-attributed because there is no price [but they acknowledge one as been attributed].

Good time to own the 63RB once they figure out the inaccuracy.

Unfortunately whomever paid $300 for this coin will be very disappointed once they receive it.

Yikes and more yikes. That's a whole lot of disappointment.

Here is another mistake attribution from PCGS that I happened to come across yesterday.

    Is QC suffering at PCGS?

Luckily, not as crucial a mistake as centMD's example.

Just came across this thread - wish I had known before the auction ended, since we would have removed it immediately.

We're going to contact the winning bidder and try and get it returned to us.

If anyone does come across a mechanical error like this in our auctions, please shoot me an e-mail to ian@greatcollections.com - really appreciate it.

    Hats off to you sir!
That is the sign of a great seller, when they take steps to remedy and correct a faulty listing even if they are following the printed label.
(ps. It looks like 1MM-002. I think MM location is good and it looks like the die scratch under the lapel collar.)
