I started collecting coins over 50 years ago and now, I have to admit, and I have developed a serious addiction for pennies. I started saving copper pennies about 17 years ago when I retired. Why? I have no idea but I have 720 thousand copper pennies so far in the bank bags in the picture. The bags go back four rows under my bar. The boxes contain 280,000 pennies from my bank that I plan to search over the winter. My wife has told me repeatedly that I better do something with them before I kick the bucket!
Just assure your wife that the next tornado that comes through doesn't stand a chance of moving your house !
What a awesome hoard !
Oh , and the next time you pass by , extend my deepest sympathies to your homes foundation.

So sad ... My reverse consumption engine was a broken fuel gauge ... gonna look at coins now. John
The common sense side of me says listen to your wife and stop adding to it and search and disposition/cash them in.
The other side of me says it's $10,000 but at some point they can be cashed in, if it makes you happy to have them it's cheaper than many other hobbies.
[QUOTE=GrumpyEd;348676]That's neat and makes me want to search.

In the end I'm not sure what to say [/QUOT
It was just a quest to see if I could do it. I had a lot of fun along the way. I have already searched over 2 million pennies in the past to find the 720,000 copper pennies. I also found over 12,000 wheat pennies as well as about 2 dozen nice errors.

That's alotta copper for a Retired Copper.
I was thinking along the same lines as John, and hope the concrete is reinforced.
Cause those million cents weigh about 6,666.67 pounds.
Look forward to seeing your finds.
Hah!! That's a hoot!! All I can say is I'm worried and impressed, all at the same time!! You obviously have a very good wife like mine. I see all the shot glasses too, which you occasionally pull out I'm sure to get through the Lincolns!
Look forward as the others to seeing your finds over the next few months!
You were not kidding when you said you were glad to be retired so you can have more time to search Lincolns! I think you have successfully acquired a nice stash to last you for awhile! One million pennies in a house... this is great!
Ill call you scrooge mcduck of Cents. You could litterally go swimming in the cents lol. When I was little I would save all my change and put them in a corner of my bedroom. I wanted to amass a collection of millions of coins. But unfortunately I dont think I even made it to 10000 coins till I cashed them in at the bank. But since then is when I got into hobby of coin collecting. So I guess you could say scrooge mcduck off of ducktales got me into collecting lol.
