Nice catch on the RPM Dan, but in the seller's notes, it is a representative of the coin you will receive... goes on further to say that the coin you will receive will be very similar in grade and quality to the one pictured.

Ooooh dang! Great catch there Viv! I just saw the RPM and knew I didn't need it so shared it here. Thanks for the info!

You're welcome Dan! Sometimes I don't catch stuff like this myself... I see one thing and that's enough so I don't scroll down to see the rest

Excellent catch Vivien... I was focused on the RPM and that the rev die is different from the LDS sample on CC... So much for the new stage theory

I would imagine these sellers do that on purpose to make a sale -- What are the chances of having a stock photo of a nice variety?
On a side note:
Was outbid on a variety recently then the seller emailed me for a second chance offer. Figuring the winner did not buy, I agreed. The seller proceeded to send me a similar coin in slightly better condition than the variety but, not the variety.
I thought that second chances were only on the original coin -- not to try and sell extras.

Unfortunately, I have called out a few sellers who use the old bait and switch tactic. I can not find them listing now but there was a seller who always posted 1955 DDO proof. So I bought it, and got sent another coin. once I called them on it, I got banned by them, but they kept posting and selling. Makes you wonder how many were just trying to cherry pick, only to get messed over.

Unfortunately it is in the fine print. I was offered the same thing one time but happened to look at the fine print before accepting.

I think that sellers like that should be flogged and fed to the sharks
