    Planchet Striations

Just wanted to share a few of the awesome pics Ray Parkhurst took for our study. These are some that we will not be using in the article, so I wanted to share them here. Again, these are all by Ray Parkhurst, www.macrocoins.com. I sent the finished article in this morning to Coin World. Our findings are that these striations are manufactured (accidentally, I assume) on the zinc stock and then due to a variety of causes, which we discuss in the article, are not always obliterated by the strike. So, that's just a sneak preview for "all yinz y'alls" since we talked about it so much recently. Enjoy these pics by Ray and thanks to all who contributed to the study. The coin below was found by Steve Wilhite of Arizona among many other minor examples in a solid date 2018D Loomis original bank wrapped roll.

    Excellent teamwork on this.

Those 3-D topographical images are revealing about the surface of the coins. Even fresh from the mint ones.

I love these photos! Can't wait to read the articles. I had originally thought all the lines were put on the coins by leprechauns when we were all asleep. I take it I was wrong?

Thank you Will! Ray's photos are always so incredible to see! I am especially blown away by how he captured the striations curving over the top of the devices in his 3D renderings! Will... your knowledge, paired with Ray's awesome photography is unmatched excellence! This is just the beginning!

Thanks! We jumped right into our next venture. Ray is trying to verify if I am right or wrong about the important thing I think I discovered. Stay tuned. Lol.
