    1951 P Re-engraved Bangs Like Cliff's?

I didn't want to distract from Cliff's (Petespockets55) thread by posting my pics, so I started this one. I found this coin this morning and have been comparing. Looks like it might be similar to Cliff's in this thread.

That one seems a little farther south than the others. We were impressed with the consistency on the other specimens, despite them being done on a die by die basis.

Thanks Rowdy but I don't have any bangs, re-engraved or othewise. The hair I have left all sticks out the back or out my ears!

But your coin does look like it has the enhanced bangs.

Yeah, I'm not sure the engraving is what we are seeing on this specimen. Could very well be some other cause in this case. It just doesn't look the same.

Ah. Gotcha! I still have a lot to learn! So generally, this is a common area of reengraving, but the fact that different dies were reengraved with striking similarity (pun intended) is what is of interest?

I probably could have worded that better.

I once read an article about how bald men with hairy bodies are more intelligent than others. I can't give you a reference, but I'm not making that up. It is obviously true in my case.

No, it's not. It is an unusual and very strange area. However, as Cliff discovered, it is a common area for 1951 only. It is of interest mostly because nobody reported it for 68 years before Cliff did, and also because it gives us more information on the prevalence of these sorts of activities.

I would be proof of this too, on the opposite end of the spectrum, that is. 50 with a full head of hair and no body hair.

                    Thanks for the explanation.

One thing I forgot to mention on Rowdy's coin that I hadn't noticed was the way the raised line seems to make a U-turn between the bangs and forehead. I don't remember seeing that on them before.

Maybe it is a VEDS before any polishing diminished/eliminated one of the lines?
