Not always Jason. I tried the black surface back ground and liked the detail but hate the color. I'm back to white / white and faster shutter. They are more red but still nothing like natural. I have more than 10 coffee filters on the lights to diffuse - these shields suck - pardon my French to photograph.

The angle is about 4 or 5/1

Plus I don't want the shadows you have. I can take that photo also with a slow shutter but you really cannot tell the quality.

My last set and the edited one look like the coin in hand. Color too. I’ll look for a shield cent

Thats a bit better, color is good and the detail looks OK also. using a 2/1 with a tan background?

Well this is about the best I could do. I used the Shade option for the flash exposure to make them more red.
May not be the greatest and maybe a little dark but the detail to me looks good.

Well I'm through all of the EC#1's uploaded and fixed on my sale web page. Now to the LP2's - Wow I forgot how hard these are to photograph from flat. This is die #3 flat. The Second photo is elevated towards the light - any preferences? Centering to get the hand at the proper level was interesting. I had to use the book pages side - side to make level. The elevation of the hand makes shooting the secondary remnants very tough. Happy New Year. ALL - Hope this one at least gets us all back out to enjoy coin collecting.
