    some new coin photography goodies for Christmas

    A nice book and a macro bellows set up.

    Someone must have been good this year!

    Curious about the little knob, under the light, that leads to the table the coin sits on. Is that for tilting the coin to get the light to reflect and show separation or details better?

    It is actually a focus stand. You use the knob to raise and lower the platform for precise focusing for macro photography. This one just goes up and down. Some go left and right also.

    Usually the coin would be centered on the platform. The bellows attachment moves the lens a few more inches away from the focus rail. That's why the "transfer disc" with the coin on it is hanging off the edge like that.

    I'll get some. For certain applications I think the 75mm with this bellows will replace the 35mm I have been using for close ups. It gives great close ups with better depth of field than the 35mm.

    Definitely try the 50mm as well. It should do better than the 75mm, in theory.
