What all actually did this would be a guessing game, at best but what did not do this, is the die or mint. On the obverse, you can see the rims were flattened, at some point in it's life, at LIBERTY and the date and the reverse looks to have some environmental damage. This coin had a tough life, AFTER it left the mint.

Figured as much but because what thought I was seeing on the reverse, one to be exact. It looked to me like what was going on was over the top of the devices. My bad for asking lol. I should have just let this one fall away into the darkness. Thanks for taking a look and giving me some hard advice

If you are not sure, always ask, in my opinion, anyway, not your bad. Like I said, hard to tell what happened to it. It looks to have been mashed and metal from the coin moved around. Some of the devices look "flatter" and some metal in the field looks higher but it's just damage, regardless of how it came to be this way.

Thanks Jon, I did have regrets that I even posted this one to ask. It is very damaged and will go into the spend box. Haven’t found much lately so I was probably just over overzealous with this one !

Trust me, I understand about trying to make something, where it isn't. The first couple of years on here, I nearly drove a few folks crazy!
