Im looking for an inexpensive digital microscope with a camera, one that is portable and uses a USB price range around $50. Any recommendations? Something like this this maybe?
Have not priced these or researched in several years but there is no unit out there anywhere near the price that you would even remotely be satisfied with. Have you looked at any attachment for your cell phone for taking magnified pictures?
I have had two of these and the only reason I bought the second, I had dropped the first one multiple times, until I finally killed it. It does a good job, as far as I'm concerned, for close up shots, not the best for full coin shots though.
The OP asked for an inexpensive digital microscope with a camera, that uses USB and that's what I gave them. Maybe not up to everyone's specs but for what I do, it's fine. Here is a pic that I took with it and yes, it's only 2MP. It does take awhile to get the feel of it though.
This is a popular topic so if you would be kind enough to post the results from the scope you buy it will be of strong interest to many folks viewing this sub-forum. An inexpensive USB scope that can show varieties and such with enough clarity for attributions is the Holy Grail of coin photography.

I'm disappointed that in 4 weeks we have not heard back from the OP with results on the scope purchase(s), good or bad. I'm hoping @ericodapro will respond with some pics or at least a brief review.

Im sorry, I thought this thread was dead. I got a cheap one that actually takes decent photos for what I needed, the only complaint I have is that the shutter button is on the microscope and moves when you press it so sometimes (alot of times) the photo gets blurred. would be better if it had a timer function.

I'm always amazed at the pricing for these scopes. A microscope with a screen display and stand for like $50! Amazing.
The photos look really decent as well. Second one is blurry, probably from movement, but the others, especially the first, look very good. Certainly good enough to share the variety online and get comments. Well done...Ray
