Retained Internal Die Crack Obverse and Minor Doubling on Reverse?
Additional Information
Date:
2006
This coin of no value, except to me, as I'm collecting "interesting" coins for my folders. (I don't sell coins anyway. That's way too much trouble for this old man.)
On this 2006, there looks to be a vivid die crack running down the back of Lincoln's skull with some retained interior die cracks? Also, on the reverse, there seems, to me, to be some minor doubling of the 7th column to the right of the statue.
When angling the light, I believe I can see some doubling of the legs. But I lack the skill or equipment to catch what I think I'm seeing.
Unfortunately, a macro lens will not fit my particular phone's camera. The cheap digital scope I'm using pixelates too much when I try to get close up. (Maybe Santa will bring me a coin microscope for Christmas?)
Cool finds! I cannot tell if that is a DDR or a plating issue. Did you check out the three sites for a match? The crack on the back of the head looks to be just that, a nice crack. There is one listing that could possibly be yours, as a later progression (IDB-1c-2006-02).
Nice find... I do not think that is IDB 2006-02 yours is closer to the ear than 02... If yours is a DDR it should be a new listing!!!
I'm putting these aside in 2x2s to save until I have a better imaging system and learn more. I figure I'll revisit them at a later time. This is a whole aspect of coin collecting that I never knew existed! Since I have thousands upon thousands of cents that I've never looked at... who knows what's in there.
