    An old newbie.

Good morning, my name is Randy and I live in South-East Louisiana. (no webbed feet or swamp dweller - Ha!) I am retired (63) and have hoarded/hid/tucked away coins since I was very young. Life tends to get in the way of hobbies when you get married and have children, as was the case here. Now, I have just a little time for my hobby, PENNIES! I recently finished sorting and storing my 5-gallon water jug of coins into decades and individual years. And, like a blind dog in a meat-house, acted before fully thinking things through and neglected to further sort by mint mark or grade.
Needless to say, I have a lot to learn. : ) I am looking forward to meeting the Posse of Penny Pinching Coin Connoisseurs! - Randy

You're quite the wordsmith. I like that. Welcome again.

    Thanks, Will.

I was considering quite a few Nicknames when signing up for this forum. I decided on just using my name, since I am none of these. : )
Apparently, I paid attention during Alliteration class. HA!

...or centurion, or centipede or something to that effect. Pennies are British.

As Will said, Randy, welcome again! You and Will have been busy! I liked the wordsmith analogy, were you by chance in sales or marketing before retiring?

I actually was in sales…. about 3 lifetimes ago. I was a self-employed industrial chemical salesman. That means commission only, no salary, paid sick days, etc…
I had a variety of aerosols, grease, lubricants, cleaning, solvents, insecticides, pesticides and equipment, etc.. I guess that’s when the rhymes and alliterations began. It always seemed to make people smile when they asked me what all I sold. I would say, “Soap, Dope, Rope, Feed, Fodder & Fertilizer! I was always considering opening a meat market ti sell ham, Ram, lamb, beef, bear, boar & bull… especially the bull. I guess all the cold saless calls made was marketing, although I never considered it that much.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. I enjoy smiling and lughing and telling jokes. I’d much rather laugh than cry. I enjoy my couns and the people I meet talking about them. I enjoy meeting peoplle, too, which is certainly why I’m really having fun with you all in this firum. I’ve always liked to associate with people who “knows their stuff.”
